Hours: This role commences at the start of September 2019 for a period of 62 weeks. The weekly hours will vary in line with the academic teaching calendar and provide varied monthly pay dependant on the hours worked in each pay period. Breakdown of hours - 37.5 hours x 51 weeks (term time weeks) and 22.5 hours x 11 weeks (school holiday weeks). Working pattern Monday - Friday.

Description: West Midland Safari Park has an exciting opportunity to join our Education Department, with a Fixed Term position in the role of Education Officer.

Your role will include providing educational talks, tours and activities to visiting schools and groups, alongside delivering Level 1, 2 and 3 Animal Care and Management Diplomas ensuring lesson plans, schemes of work and assessments are kept up to a high standard at all times. This varied role will include other tasks, including craft activities and assisting with our Conservation fundraising weeks, depending on the business needs.


About you

The role requires someone who is confident, motivated and enthusiastic about wildlife conservation and has excellent communication skills. You will have gained a degree level qualification in Animal Care, Animal Management, Zoology, Conservation or related subject. Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous experience within a teaching, presenter or educator role, teaching qualifications of PTLLS, CTLLS or PGCE would be advantageous, although full training will be given. Previous experience in handling of small exotic animals is desirable, but not essential for candidate selection.
